Tonikawa: Over the Moon for You Review

This anime is pretty short and I don’t want to give too much away if anyone plans to watch it, so I’ll keep my review brief.

Over the Moon for You is a beautiful romance anime about a young newlywed couple, Nasa and Tsukasa. Nasa nearly dies one night and is saved by a mysterious young girl, and fell in love with her the moment they met. When he told Tsukasa he had intense feelings for her despite the fact that they had just met, she replied, “We can be together…if you’ll marry me.” Nasa instantly agreed. Unfortunately, he passed out from the injuries he sustained in the accident immediately after, and she was gone when he came to. He saw and heard nothing of her for two years, but never forgot. Two years after the accident she shows up at his door step, asking to get married again. Once again, Nasa agrees instantly and they get married that night. Over the Moon for You depicts the life of this newlywed couple and their ever-growing love for each other.

Now I understand that the story might sound a little farfetched, but this anime is just so damn endearing I don’t mind one bit. It’s truly a beautiful show, and is most definitely one of my favorite romance anime. It probably always will be. The wholesomeness and sincerity this anime possesses is unrivaled. Even though Nasa and Tsukasa have not been together a long time, it’s very clear that the two are genuinely in love.

This is a great entry to the romance genre. Action anime are significantly more famous in popular culture (at least in the U.S.), but there are slice of life and romance anime that rival or even surpass the greatest action or adventure anime ever made. Over the Moon for You is one such show in my opinion.

The only remotely negative thing I can say about this anime is that the younger sister character, Chitose, is pretty over the top in my opinion. She’s super annoying in what is otherwise a really cute and wholesome anime. If they toned her down I definitely would not mind as much, but she is a bit too much for a show like this.

If you would like to watch Over the Moon for You, it is available for streaming on Crunchyroll as well as Crunchyroll’s YouTube channel (yes that’s right, full episodes are being uploaded on YouTube).

Over the Moon for You is a genuine masterpiece of a romance anime. Watching it literally made me want to be married, a sentiment I’ve never truly felt in my life. I will most definitely be watching this anime again, multiple times. I’ll probably read the manga as well. If someone asked me for a romance anime recommendation, this will be my number one recommendation forever. It’s such an incredibly beautiful show. I purposefully made this review short, so there are a plethora of other great things I could say about this amazing anime that I did not include (so go watch it!). Bottom line, whether you are a novice looking to step into the world of romance anime or a veteran looking for a new show, watch Over the Moon for You. I can almost guarantee you will love it. I honestly think it might be impossible to not love this anime…
